Our Custom Wood Countertops Blog features the industry’s most talented and innovative designers throughout the United States and abroad. This featured design includes a set of Ash Wood Countertops designed by Melissa Sauter of Whiski Kitchen Design Studio.

About the Designer: Loving living and working in the Detroit area! So gratifying to be a part of rebuilding the city! I love the characteristics and details in the historical homes in Detroit and preserving and showcasing them. I moved here after growing up in Ohio, attending Western Michigan University for Interior Design and Business, and living in Chicago for a few years. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, visiting museums and exhibits, and panting abstract art.
Designer Tip: Mix textures and finishes to create interest and don’t be afraid of using the color black! Too many people are worried using such a dark color will make a space appear smaller but it doesn’t, it adds a richness and layer of luxury!
